Text on reverse of cover reads:

Heralded as the finest of all dive bombers during the early months of World War II, the small, accurate Junkers fu 87B-2 — better known as the Stuka — played a rather small role in the Battle of Britain. Used in initial attacks on British coal ships in the English Channel, the plane was deadly accurate, but unsuited for the attack on England. After a time, it was withdrawn from the battle primarily because it was designed for strafing the enemy in support of invading ground forces and not for the precision bombing of fixed targets. Prior to the Battle of Britain, the Stuka had been one of the most feared of the Nazis' weapons. The plane depicted on this stamp was from 5 Staffel II Gruppe, based in occupied France during the Battle of Britain.
